Casbah, one of Japan's most popular trash metal bands, formed in October 1983 by vocalist Taka Hatori and original guitarist Ryo Murayama; from their beginings from 1983 through 1986/1987 the band wore crazy Attack metal costumes and wore make up as Kiss and Seikima II. They played a very heavy, pounding "Trash metal".
The track "Death metal" was indeed one of the first references to this new type of music.
Starting in 1986/1987, the band moved towards a more HC/Trash style of metal that still remained heavy but perharps not as raw and visceral. They continued to release great albums until splitting up a couple of years ago after a disappointing relationship with RoadRunner Japan signalled the end of their 20 year history!
