Bermot is a black metal/depressive black metal band from Medellín, Colombia. Founded in 2017 by Esteban Sánchez Agudelo (Bermot) under the previous name of Hermod. It is a band with very elaborate musical projects.
To avoid similarities or confusion with other entities, the name Hermod was changed to Bermot in 2023.
Bermot currently has 2 active members, but previously, Bermot was the sole composer and recorder of the 3 old albums released under the name of Hermod.
Bermot is from Medellin, Colombia, living very close to the mountains, from which he learned a lot. Bermot has been composing and releasing work independently for 6 years and does not yet have a record label to amplify his work, making it autonomous work.
Esteban Sánchez Agudelo is the founder of Bermot. He is the mastermind behind all the work done, playing all instruments when necessary. He was born in Medellín, Colombia and has lived all his childhood close to the mountains. His tastes for dark music were already visible in his childhood, with Gorgorod and Immortal being his first discoveries in 2009.
His influence on extreme metal increased when he met a companion with the same musical tastes, listening to bands such as Nargaroth, Drakar, Maleficarum.
He has been playing the violin since he was in high school, doing different rehearsals and performances with different orchestras from his neighborhoods. Hence his wide taste for different instruments and his learning with them.
Currently, he continues to release work in Bermot, a band formed by him since 2017 with a sound influenced by wide bands like Carpathian Forest, Darkthrone, Nargaroth... Currently, his band is looking for a more atmospheric sound but without straying from the essence of black metal...
He changed his band name from Hermod to BERMOT in 2023, due to similarities with other entities and to avoid confusion with other bands with the same name.
