Very good for something brand new

Letters to the Exile started in 2006 as a simple concept band. With 2 albums and an EP the very limited time they've been around, in my opinion, have been one of the best couple of albums of my life.

Let's begin with the vocals. They're very drawn out and lengthy it reminds me of a live Suicide Silence concert, though I'm not comparing them, with a mixture of Oh Sleeper and a dash of The Devil Wears Prada with it being relatively monotone. Monotone in vocals isn't bad, really, but it drags on far too much. However, as it being their first album I decided to give them the benefit of the doubt and allowed them a second chance.

The guitar skills are phenomenal, though not the best I've ever heard, bringing in a melodic, metallic, hardcore sound into it reminds me somewhat of Saving Grace with songs like Oh Holy Dead! or Martyrdom remind me Oaxaca and The Determined Drunk.

The drumming is decent however it's not particularly outstanding and at times gets lost in the sounds of the guitar and vocals.

There's an introduction, an outro, and an interlude which are quite good instrumentally. Incorporating acoustic guitars and a very simplistic 1/4 drum beat with a few electric chords. They help package this record quite nicely in fact they might be the best tracks on this album.

Lastly, is the album artwork. I always have a thing for awesome looking artwork and this cover is pretty nice and I think it can tell a story depending on the person

Overall, the album is relatively simplistic similar to Gideon and Suicide Silence. The only major problem with the album was the drumming. It needs improvement. I thoroughly believe that this band has some serious potential in the future if they ever decide to regroup and I think they can compete with Inhale/Exhale and Fit for a King easily.
