Being this new bands first album it has some good qualities and some. . . not so good. Firstly the good thing is the "clean vocals", and the great drumming. But, the high-pitched squeal gets a bit irritating after a while, and even though the drumming is good, it gets very repetitive. If the band could do proper growls, not the "balls haven't dropped" squeals then they'd be a big success. Think of all the good Metalcore bands. Now tell me a couple of bands that DON'T have clean vocals? stumped, well you should be because just about all the "known" metalcore bands have the clean vocals. e.g 36 Crazyfists, I killed The Prom Queen, All That Remains Etc.
On the album, the best song would be "Curse at 27", as it has a variety, a mixture of tempos. By doing this they really give light to the clean vocals as you hear them more on this tack than all the others.
With this in mind it is still a great album and The Australian Metalcore industry seems to have a bright future ahead with good upcoming bands such as Curse At 27. With the new tallent such as Forgiven Rival, As Silence Breaks, Anime Fire (etc), Australia should be mapped as a metal nation, hopefully brining more known bands to some parts of Australia that people hardly ever go. e.g TASMANIA!
