It's hard to explain the feeling I get when I know a band is going to blow up on the scene ... but I got that feeling when I listened to the Silhouette EP from Through You. These five young men show some serious promise to gain powerhouse status in the rock world.

Even though Silhouette only has 6 tracks, it's not short of style or substance by any measure. Through You demonstrates an uncanny ability to bring old and new school together to produce a unique sound. One of the most obvious influences I heard on this CD was Rage Against The Machine ... without the gonzo-political overtones and with much more melody. In fact, throughout the song "Harbor" vocalist Mic. Kirkland could actually pass for a young Zack De La Rocha.

Through You isn't about rock 'n' rap, though. They're about groove and energy. Silhouette takes all the best elements of a good song and multiplies them by six. From the driving, in-your-face rocker, "Harbor" and the bluesy, neo-STP vibe of "Opposite Gravity" to the almost psychedelic "Orchid," this whole CD takes you on a wild ride from which you won't want to return.
