Short, Sweet, and To the Point

Neuroma is a realtively new band, formed in 2006 in Liverpool, UK. This is the 2nd release by this band, and the sound quality off of this promo is surprisingly clear and audible compared to the many Demos i've listened to in the past which sound like they were recorded on an 8 track in someone's basement.
The band blends some elements of Death/Grind into their brutalilty (I.E: the first track on this promo: Dingoes ate my baby, featuring an opening quote from Bart Simpson). Being a huge fan of both Death/Grindcore and straight up death metal, i have to say this release is pretty good, there isn't anything too "outstanding" about it, but this band definantly has potential. I hear a bit of an influence from Death/Grind masters Skinless in this band too, especially the slightly grotesque humor the band incorporates in their song titles (Chicken Poodle soup).
The first track on this release, "Dingoes ate my baby" is a standard sounding death metal track with a few good riffs and some pretty run-of-the mill death growls. The sound quality is superb, as i stated earlier, they really did a top notch job on the audio on this release for it being a promo and all. "Gash in The Attic" and "Columbine Harvester" both offer some great guitar riffs, the song "Columbine Harvester" vaguely sounds a bit like a Devourment song i've heard before, which isn't a bad thing at all. The final track on this relase is a live version of their song "Chicken Poodle Soup", even the live track is pretty Audible. the Vocalist really does a good job at doing fast-paced death growls in this song, this track has a bit more of a Groove or "Slam" sound to it. Usually bands like Suffocation get old for me, but the way Neuroma keeps the pace going throughout this album really kept me listening the whole way through.
I've listened to this Demo about 5 times back to back now, and although the Demo clocks in at around just 17 minutes, its non stop brutality from start to finish and should be an enjoyable piece of Death/Grind metal for anyone familiar with the genre.
