On the crusade to attack the top

Hungary isn't famous for Deathcore music. But in the little hungarian town Szeged there is a five-piece group who want to change this now. And in 2011 they released their debut album Hellwakening. Founded 2009 under the beautiful sounding name Slaughter at the Engagement Party the band started to play classic Deathcore like the first Bring Me The Horizon (now Metalcore), Chelsea Grin and Carnifex.

I found the band by accident on Spirit of Metal under their old name and I looked up them on Facebook where I contacted the band for sending me a copy of their debut album. The band just released 100 hand-numbered copies of this album, so I can be proud to call it mine. It is one of my rarities. What I don't know: Where did the band contact to Mike Schleibaum? He is guitarist and founding member of Darkest Hour, one of the famous acts from the Metalcore and Melodic death metal scene. Schleibaum is featured on the sixth track called "Bring the Children Home".
Another person who is featured on this album is Zoltán Jakab (co-writer and booking manager of THE Southern Oracle). He is featured on the last track "Hellwakening" which is a hidden track. The song is great but I'm not the biggest fan of hidden tracks but everybody is different.

Every song on this album is a highlight and I'm surprised on a positive way. Normally I don't like Deathcore very much but this is one of the best bands I've ever heard and Hellawakening is one of the best releases of 2011. Maybe the band is a insider tip now but in two or three years The Southern Oracle could reach the same status like BMTH, Despised Icon, Here Comes The Kraken, As Blood Runs Black and many more.

The cover artwork is designed by Barber's Art. I like it and I don't know why.
The lyrics are written by lead vocalist Barnabás Kokái and Zoltán Jakab. Some songs deals about horror stories, triggers, death and many more. Kokái dedicated the album to his deceased grandfather.

The "foundation stone" is laid. Since the founding in 2009 the band toured through Hungary with the hungarian band Subscribe, played some concerts with the switzern Metalcore outfit Cataract (in Slovenia), supported the American band Hatebreed in Vienna (Austria), shared stage with acts like Walls of Jericho, Carnifex, Suffokate, Veil of Maya and Trigger The Bloodshed. And they performed on the 6-day-festival Rocknation where bands like Watain, Ill Niño, Napalm Death, Madball, Agnostic Front, Eluveitie, Dark Tranquility and Varg.
