Take a pen, write down ten words that come to your mind when you hear “hate” and mix them together. Voila, now you got a whole concept of Abaddon’s demo Hatred Manifest. And now imagine the similar action with music. Yes, it sounds like a kind of a Frankenstein’s monster but as well as it, the Serbians’ second release possesses some charm.
 
In my view, the antihuman-antisocial-antieverything themes can be either classic or cliché and in case of Abaddon it is a hard decision which one they reached.  On the other hand, if there is anything you can’t deny the band, it is versatility. Beginning with heavy riffs, continuing to a melodic passage, inserting a guitar solo and repeating it all over again several times in one song takes some skills. Maybe therefore I must confess that assign them a certain genre is a little tricky. They change song by song, minute by minute, whether it is ‘Intolerance’, filled with smashing riffs or ‘World’s Agony’, that thanks to very expressive keyboards, reminds me of Dimmu Borgir creations. ‘Spiritual Slaves’ is a pure thrash as well as aggressive ‘Wounded by Humanity’. ‘Misanthropy’ is the oldest track of the release and the changes of influence are pretty hearable.
 
In conclusion all I can say is that it is good. The demo is well listenable and is a really good demonstration of the band’s skills and the styles they can play and mix without sounding forcibly. Well, maybe even with sounding forcibly but still interesting and not boring. But anyway, while listening to Hatred Manifest, you’ll have a feeling that the tracks balance on the borderline of glibness and kitsch.
 
 I believe many people will like it but for me listening to it several times was enough. At least until the day I will be in mood for something new yet still sounding familiar. And it really sounds familiar even while listening to it for a first time as well it will sound kind of new every time you turn it on, mainly because none of the songs has a potential to stuck in your head and generally, I can imagine them more being performed on stage with a big success and a moshing crowd under the podium.
