Beware! The opening track is plucked in filigree manner and got the well chosen title Prelude To Madness - and it leads the listener to a relaxed but deceiving path.
Afterwards, the guys cudgel really hefty with the song
Flesh And Bone. The band uses a lot of ingredients in their compositions, whereby the basis is formed by
Death Metal sound; apart from that, some decent Hardcore influences found their way to this release. BLED DRY like to throttle the speed every now and then to attach more penetrating power. This tactics is proved with the calm beginning of The Hedonistic Murder. The voice shows up really variably including growls, screeches and screams. Named song features a nice guitar solo and therefore I get the impression of a felicitous work, because the speed is alternated as well as the vocal performance.
In contrast, the next piece
Embodied Hate is presented way faster, whereby the guitars blow out the dust of the speakers and the band adopts some rhythmic accents. I like the short, but effective breather, because the faster parts unfold a more hefty effect.
The album is concluded by the neck-breaker
Sanguis Alternus, which offers continuous fine lead melodies and speeds up without falling towards chaos. I appreciate the twin-guitar melodies and the acoustic ending, which rounds off this release in best style.
I am looking forward to a full album and I hope that BLED DRY can offer this high quality for a longer distance.
