The Buffalo area has been breeding ground some of the worlds greatest and most reknown Death Metal acts such as the likes of Cannibal Corpse and Malevolent Creation. This paved the way for the thriving years of the metal scene during the early 90's in Buffalo, many legendary acts traveled to the then hotbed of metal activity and many great local bands were born. Amongst these were Leviathan, Tyrant Sin and Beyond Death whos members would go onto groups such as Cannibal Corpse and Six Feet Under, etc.. Baphomet, whose certain members went on to join Stemm. Infestation, Eternal Torment who also had members of the future existing Stemm. There were many other metal bands like Divination, Cyst, Carnal Dissection, Immortal Terror and Obscurity. But one of the strangest spawn of the Queen city was ORGANISM. Organism was formed from the remnants of former members of Grotesque Infection Lamont, Russ and Justin as well as a newcomer to the metal scene, Matt. In the next few years they strived to create an ecclectic sound combining elements of death metal, progressive and even jazz. While this formula may be cliche by today's standards, at the time, few bands in this part of the world were creating this type of musical culmination save for bands like Lethergy, Windbreed and of course Organism. Since that time Organism's members had gone on to their own projects. Most noteably Russ joining 3 Minutes of Hate after leaving Stemm and Lamont's forthcoming White Lotus solo CD.
