biografía : Mörk Gryning

IN THE YEAR OF 1993 two notorious creatures started out what was meant to be the most brutal and violent black metal band ever. Draakh Kimera and Goth Gorgon started out to create their mystical brand of symphonic black metal. The first recordeing of the band was a one track demo including the now legendary song "When moonshine is the only light". (Unfortunately never released.) In 1994 a demo containing two tracks was recorded which lead to at deal with No Fashion records.
IN THE SPRING OF 1995 the duo entered the Unisound studios together with Dan Swanö to record their long awaited debut album "Tusen år har gått" which has been a great success. "Tusen..." is a nine track theme album about the story of Nidas, Eldon, Erin and Cahn.

AFTER THEIR GREAT DEBUT album Mörk Gryning follows it up with one of the most powerful and raw black metal releases ever. The second fullenght album "Return Fire" stroke down with an intense speed and furious might. "Return Fire" contains eleven tracks of pure hell including an ultra violent black metal version of Slayer´s "Necrophiliac". The album was recorded in November 1996 at Sunlight studios together with Tomas Skogsberg and Fred Estby. Mörk Gryning has due to their individual, dark and atmospheric style reached cult status with a great underground following.

AFTER "Return Fire" the band decided to take a break for a couple of years. But in the beginning of the year 2000 the duo decided to re-establish the band but this time together with a third member: Guitarist Avatar. His brutal and technical style of guitarplaying gave the band new and more energy than ever before. At the fall of 2000 Mörk Gryning enters together with Pytten the Memorial hall of Grieg (Grieghallen) in Norway to record their third masterpiece "Maelstrom Chaos". This hellish release will be their strongest and most powerful release ever up to date. "Maelstrom Chaos" is a ten-track-album which is more back to the sound as in "Tusen...". Brutal, fast, melodic and symphonic. With titles such as "Templars", "The darkness within", "Dödens skald" (the scald of death) and "The menace", should wipe out any doubt anyone might have towards Mörk Gryning and their creativity. From now Mörk Gryning will not remain as sideproject anymore. BEWARE TO FALL INTO THE WHIRL OF THE MAELSTROM!

On January 13th, 2005, band leader and founder Jonas Berndt (a.k.a. Goth Gorgon) announced that he was leaving Mörk Gryning and thereby dissolving the band with the following statement:

Goth:"Mörk Gryning is no more. Yesterday I called everyone in the band and told them I'm leaving. I know many people will be dissapointed because of this decision I've made, but I'm afraid it was something I had to do. Black or death metal simply doesen't attract me in the way it used to do. I've always loved what we have done but I have lost the spark you so dearly need when you're in a band like this."
