I’ll start by saying that this is their first album since the reunion of the band in May 2006. During the first half of the 90s, OutRage didn’t get the chance to record their destructive and disturbing music. Since Jacques Dionne and Michel Christin left, the band had to rely on the young and talented guitarist Dave Hazel for the bass lines. Does this album meet our expectations or is it that kind of crap you want to throw through the window? This is what it will be all about here.



The album begins with one of the most famous songs created by the band since its birth. It is “Violence” to name it, with its destructive voice and its punctual backing vocals as powerful as the music itself. Then, comes the time of “Rage” which hadn’t been plaid since the split in 1996 and which is recorded here in a version much more powerful than the original one.

“Malcommodations”, which nearly everybody has already listened to, is one of my favourite ones because it speaks about a social crisis causing a little problem in our province. Its refrain is by the way quite good, but the backing vocals and the front voice are not aggressive enough. Nevertheless, the sound of massive destruction holds the song well and helps nearly forgetting these details. Keep in mind that the guitarist Dave Hazel also plays the bass and I must say he is quite efficient with it despite it is not his instrument of predilection.



But let’s get back to the chronic. “Stress” and “Héritage” talk about beautiful and really sad reality of everyday life which we all have to be concerned about. “Chaos” is very melodic thanks to the overpowered riffs starting just after the short intro. “Fléau social” is another of their classics songs that sent us back to their debuts in the 90s, and here again with an ear-splitting sound which will make you deaf. “Traqué” is also one of the killing songs with its little story of bank robbers tracked by the police, the whole being described with a sharp narration.


Nothing special to say about “Trahison”: this is a song quite similar to the others. Now comes the time of “Le tireur” which is a homage to Dimebag Darrell, especially since the incident which caused his death. A demoniac voice attracts the listener’s attention in the introduction and then the music starts full of energy. What is the most bizarre here is that this is the song giving the more trashy sound of the album (as far as I’m concerned) thanks to fast and destructive riffs. What’s amazed me the most was that the closing contains two fire shots, perfectly integrated in the song.



To conclude, I would say this album kills like a mass-destruction weapon thanks to its lyrics direct and sharp as you can not even imagine. It will definitively stays as one of the best Québécois Thrash albums this beautiful province will be able to offer you.
