Spellbound (ALL) (VO)

Interview with Dave Maier and Daniel Tschoepe at Wacken 2007.

interview Spellbound (GER)1 - Hi guys I just watched your showcase, you seemed very busy thanks a lot for according me a few minutes. So which one of you can introduce the band?
Dave: I introduce the band, at first my partner in crime is Daniel Tschoepe playing the lead guitar, at the bass is the newest member who joined us last year Hannes Jäger, we have also a new drummer since last year aswell named Andy Flache. Daniel: And Dave Maier the singer and the guitarist but also the main songwriter in spellbound. Dave: Thank you very much Daniel Tschoepe (smile)

2 - So you just have a new album out, I guess it's your second album right?
Dave: Right, our first album was called 'Incoming Destiny' and it was released in 2005 on Armaggedon Music. And on August 10th we have a new album out with the new line-up, the new old singer (laughs) and it's called 'Nemesis 2665'

3 - Who did you work with and is there any guest or cover song on Nemesis?
Dave: We produced this album with Andy Classen at Stage One Studio like the first album and it was really great when you work with Andy Classen and you know exactly what he does. This album is more focused on the guitars, they are more fast, the faster songs I ever heard! We also tried not to let any instrument down, the guitars are in the front of course but we wanted to focus on each one
interview Spellbound (GER)of them... Daniel: We also have a bonustrack on 'Nemesis 2665' it's a cover of Exodus 'And then There Were Non' it's a harder and more speed version, actually it's a Spellbound version of this beautiful song.

4 - Are you planning a tour, I just saw you playing here in Wacken do you have any other dates scheduled?
Dave: We are searching for a great tour, we had some offers but they weren't good for us, it wasn't good for Spellbound because we play thrash Metal you know... But we are still searching on and on and I hope we will find a great tour before the end of the year, it would be very beautiful.

5 - Playing a showcase here in Wacken in front of all the press and the medias is a great opportunity for you (the show took place in the press tent)
Dave: Oh yes it's definately a big chance for us ! You know the people that come here to see a new band have no intention, I mean they don't know who we are, they just come and say 'Okay' just to check us out, and it's our work to bring these people with us and to put our energy on them, but you know what it's not so difficult (smiling)

6 - And you did a good job.
Dave: Really? Thank you.

7 - I briefly talked to you yesterday and I quickly introduced you my webzine which is called Spirit of Metal, and jus
interview Spellbound (GER)t like all the other people who got interviewed you'll have to answer this question: what is for you the true Spirit of metal?
Dave: That's very simple...THRASH METAL! Because I think Thrash Metal is the highest energy level in Metal and it's the picture of Metal, you know like Metallica in the early days 'Ride The Lightening', not only for the music but for the energy that put this band up in the clouds! And this energy this is metal. It's very difficult to recall it but also to repeat this true energy, and it's our hope we want to bring this energy back into the metal scene, that would be really great, not only for Spellbound but for bands like Abandonned, Contradiction, Reckless Tide for all the new bands that want to bring that old energy into a new style. We don't want to copy Metallica or the old bands, they are here and they'll stay here for all the time. But our intention is to bring the old energy of this time back to a newer time, back to new people. And there isn't so much new bands that have the balls to bring it back...!

8 - Do you have a website for our readers to check you out?
Dave: Yes it's www.spellboundalliance.de

9 - Any last words for our readers?
Dave: Yes I hope every reader will support metal, will support the true metal and hope you'll buy our new CD and that we'll see us again next year in Wacken!
