Biography : Paragon (GER)

The German Heavy Metal Band PARAGON was founded in 1990 by guitar player and main songwriter Martin Christian. In 1990 PARAGON recorded their first demo tape "MAELSTROM OF DECLINE" and played first live shows. 1994 the band released the "Into The Black" Mini CD and recieved good reviews all over Germany in the Metal press. At the end of 1994 Martin had written enough songs to record the first "official" release "World Of Sin".
After the release of "World Of Sin" came a difficult time because the record company which released the CD went bankrupt and there was almost no promotion for the CD. The consequences were bad sales, no shows and many lineup changes. In 1996 Martin finally decided to put PARAGON on ice to wait for the right time to strike back again.

With vocalist Andreas Babuschkin, bass player Jan Bünning and the two remainig memebers of the last PARAGON lineup, Markus Corby (drums) and Claudius Cremer (guitar) , PARAGON was complete again a Martin began to write new songs. In autumn 1997 they entered the spiderhouse studios of famous german producer Guru Harris Johns (Helloween, Tankard, Sodom, Kreator...) to record the "World Of Sin" follow up "FINAL COMMAND". After a longer search for a new record company "FINAL COMMAND" was finally released in Europe in August 1998 on B.O.Records. As there was no propper tour offer PARAGON went right back into the studio in January 1999 to record "Chalice of Steel" with Harris Johns again.

Both CDs received good reviews in the Metal press and the reward was the offer to play both most important Metal Festivals of Germany - Bang Your Head and the Wacken Open Air ´99 and also some smaller open airs and single shows.

As PARAGON and also B.O.Records were no longer interested in a cooperation the band recorded a new three track promo CD to find a new label. At the Headbangers Open Air 2000 they got an offer from the new REMEDY RECORDS label from Hamburg. Autumn 2000 they went into the studio with Piet Sielck of Iron Savior to record their fourth CD "Steelbound". "Steelbound" recieved very good reviews in the German Metal press (9,5 of ten points in Rock Hard Magazine, 9,5 points of ten in Metal Heart Magazine, 11 of 12 points in Heavy Oder Was?! Magazine).

To promote the release of "Steelbound" the band went on tour in Germany with Iron Savior in April/May 2001and also will play a show with Grave Digger and the Headbanger´s and Wacken Open Airs.

Right now Paragon are writing material for their next record they plan to record in the end of 2001. It will be produced by Piet Sielk again and come out on Remedy Records in Summer 2002.
