MARTHYR est un groupe de Black Metal, basé sur Epinal (88).

Formé en 2008 par Comte Adramelech (Swellpain) et Comte Von Baël (Swellpain),
ils sont rejoints par Hellrik (The wanderer, Vaginal Holocaust, Uris Astyr) au chant quelques mois plus tard.
Funestra (Inborn Suffering, Drowning, Tayah) intégre le groupe en mai 2009 en tant que bassiste.

Le groupe propose un Black Metal plutôt old school rappellant le style nordique des 90's,
c'est en Janvier 2010 qu'ils sortent leur première démo intitulé "Doom Nearly Comes"
constitue de 5 titres à la tonalité brut & malsaine!

MARTHYR commence alors à faire quelques concerts avec des groupes comme Nirnaeth, Orlog, blashyrkh, Myrkvid, etc
leurs prestations sont plutôt bien accueillis par le public qui apprécie leur énergie sur scène.
