Finally
Unveiled after much anticipation is “…For Chaos, Obscurity and Desolation…,” the first
Masterpiece of
Bestial Black/Death of 2010 by a band that may convincingly be described as one of the last truly great pioneers of the subgenre. The landscape of this
Area of metal has become increasingly crowded, and most bands wading in this sordid muck of mediocrity fail to establish any personality in their music. This is not true of Italy’s Blasphemophagher. Blasphemophagher have consistently been refining their sound and pushing the boundaries of their work, and the new album is certainly no exception. Even more versatile in its
Assault than their debut, “…For Chaos, Obscurity and Desolation…” presents a focused approach that is refreshing. Blasphemophagher have largely adopted their style from the Blasphemy’s “Gods of War” era (as well as other established acts such as
Black Witchery and
Revenge), but display a far more careful approach to their songwriting even than the blueprint from which they derive their style. There is
Nothing haphazard in their approach. The songs are designed to
Incite violence within and spread
Contempt for the
Realm of the living. Each track evokes their apocalyptic image on the grandest scale. Moreover, the production on “…For Chaos, Obscurity and Desolation…” captures the essence of Blasphemophagher’s
Holocaust noise perfectly. Every instrument is clear and sharp and the masterful songwriting emerges without being tainted by poor recording. This album delivers the triumphant sound of
Nuclear Bloodshed and leaves in its wake only the most grotesquely
Mangled abominations of the human form gasping for breath amid the radiation drenched atmosphere.
