Hey, what a nice surprise! This is the side project of Alrinack (also in
Asphodeles, P.H.T.O,
Suicidal Madness, and others) who has contributed to
Pest Webzine with his reviews not a long time ago. Didn't know this project so I'm glad Mortis Humanae sent it for a review. "L'âme de la steppe" is Loup Noir's debut album, a 9 tracks effort lasting for more than 70 minutes. Unfortunately the sound isn't the best around, and especially on the drum-machine that annoys me to death, but the good thing about Loup Noir's music is that although the guitar riffs are at times too repetitive and just in to make the tracks longer, they manage to create a horrifying atmosphere with the aid of the vocal layers and the omnipresent
Wolf howls. I have to mention also the brilliant intro, one of the most
Macabre I've heard in a long time, and I also like that it lasts for almost 7 minutes. If you don't care that much about the sound quality and are rather interested in the atmospheres of an underground
Black Metal release, give this one a try, after a couple of tracks it grew on me and I've listened to it completely for a couple of times without getting bored, so maybe you'll enjoy it as well. Don't expect anything joyful or calm inhere, this is colder than the North Pole...
