Miniradman, the fact that he thinks Hellhammer is the heaviest band isn't a big deal.

THANK YOU. Also I didn't think he was actively trying to prove he was a tough guy, but the fact that he called me out on it + his general chest-puffing attitude in that post was a rather glaring self-contradiction.

But nobody gives a shit anyways so it's all good.

anywho, I would consider Darkspace pretty fucked-up and out there, but the heaviest band? Not a chance. Also Nile are about as heavy as a fucking feather.

Well, stuff like Sunn O))) and other Drone acts don't really fall into metal for me, despite the fact that they can have heavier tones.
Other than that, I know Sunn O))) and say, Propergol can make some of the heaviest music.

Electric Wizard's pretty damn heavy too. Actually, I might as well ask while I'm here: I really like the vibe that Electric Wizard give me but the composition of the riffs themselves is kind meh. Anyone have any bands that sound similar to them that have really good riff-craft?

The first band that comes to mind is Sleep. Probably the most well-known doom/sludge metal band.
The band has two Titan songs over 50 minutes (Dopesmoker and Jerusalem), and they're good songs, but I don't wanna take up too much of your time, so listen to the song Holy Mountain or something.

The guy that thinks Suicide Silence is heavy says : what? Hellhammer is light as fuck.

mate mate mate, Hellhamer is light as.

back a hundred years ago they were some of the heaviest.  Times have changed, and so much more stuff out there way heavier and better than TW ever could imagine in his, and my day.

I think he is talking about The Black Metal Hellhammer, not the Rock band 0

I think me and refractorhead are talking about the same band.

And indeed he is right, you have to look at the time in which Hellhammer formed. back in the early-to-mid 80's, there was no Extreme metal as we know it today. Hellhammer created something that NOBODY had ever seen before and they have stood the test of time to this very day, and most/all of their releases are cult classics.

I'm sure you're gonna crap your pants when I tell you this, but I SAW Apocalyptic Raids once when I was in Ontario on vinyl for $20 and I didn't know what it was, so I didn't buy it. 0

SON OF A MOTHER FUCK yeah that made me rage. Was it an original pressing?
Also, how often do you stop by Ontario? wouldn't mind a brodown.
