Good. For a long time I thought you were one, because you come across that way.

I'm 15. Surely you know of the alternate slang use of homosexual terms among teenagers.

I'm 19. Age Means everything, LOLZ. Just because it's popular, doesn't mean it's right. Back to the old adage of, "if all of your friends jumped off a bridge...".

I'm not going to pretend I'm "unique" or "an individual" or some bullshit like that, cause I'm not. People around me use it daily so I pick up on it.

I don't really know how people think that Deathcore and Metalcore are any different from other genres of metal.  In fact, I find that most self-proclaimed metal connoisseurs don't know shit about music in general.  Just based on the fact that they stick to one genre exclusively raises Red flags.  In addition to listening to pretty much every variation of metal, I enjoy almost every genre of music in general.  So, if you think all Deathcore and Metalcore sounds the same, you need a reality check.

First, why is it that metalheads are such elitist idiots?  Is there any other genre where listeners are so heavily divided?  The only one that comes close is electronic, and let's not kid ourselves into thinking that this is even a close second.  If you don't like the way it sounds, you don't have to listen to it.  If you're upset about how many awful Deathcore/Metalcore bands are out there, guess what...there are shitty bands in every genre, even the flavour(s) of metal you choose to listen to predominantly.

Sure, the 'emo/scene kids' have gravitated towards a particular genere, but what else is out there for them?  The mainstream rock industry hasn't seen much innovation as of late, rap has essentially become pop music, and the pop scene is currently being dominated by Justin Bieber.  I'd probably turn to deathcore/metalcore as well, if only for a change.

Also, to address the concern of those who don't like the screaming/growling.  Do they not do this exact same thing in other genres of metal?  I'm pretty sure they do.  Is the musical progression any different?  Nope.  The only diffrence is how it sounds and how you classify it.

Finally, why do I like some bands and not others?  Sometimes it's because of the vocal style, sometimes it's the overuse of synths, sometimes I don't like the pace, and other times I don't like the instrumentation.  Chances are you are the exact same.  So don't Bitch and whine, or proclaim that you know metal while others don't.  It just makes you look like a moron for trying to set a precedent in a field that is completely subjective.

Syllinger, first off, welcome to SoM. Second off, don't worry, most people on here aren't closed minded. I must say, that has been the best and most informative message that I have seen on this thread in the last while.

For the people on here that do not like deathcore/metalcore, they have their reasons ( I personally like some bands in these genres).

Who the Hell are these people you speak of? Why are they "close-minded" because they don't like a specific genre (SUBgenre even?) The fact that you dismiss these people as close-minded simply because they don't like one genre is very close-minded of you yourself and a glaring hypocrisy. I'm sure a lot of people on here aren't fans of pop music- I guess they're close minded fags cause they don't like a genre, right?

Metal encompasses a HUGE variety of sounds and Textures (Power, black,
death, melodic death and Metalcore are all HUGELY different musically)
so evidently there's going to be a plethora of fans with different
tastes and opinions. Why the fuck do we have all agree? Conflict breeds
progression.

I don't, and nobody else who dislikes -core infused metal does. When a thread asks for my opinion on Deathcore, I'm damn well going to give my opinion, because it creates discussion. What, do you seriously think we go around listening to music we Hate all the time or something?

Well no shit sherlock. What's your point? I know there's bad bands in genres I like, that's not going to stop me from listening to them.

I don't give a shit about the fanbase of a given genre. No one does, it's just fun to pick on scene kids.

You'd be retarded to think that the vocal stylings they use in Deathcore aren't different form those in other styles of metal. Harsh vocals don't just have one method of delivery, you know.

If we shouldn't argue about anything subjective, what the fuck is the point of this forum, a METAL forum?

"GUYS WE ALL HAVE OUR OWN OPINIONS SO LETS NOT TALK ABOUT ANYTHING"
The argument's been made a billion times before and it's been fucking stupid every time.
