AKA elitists...
Well, the reason (my line of thought) is that with technological advancements in the music industry (AKA the internet), bands now have a decent outlet to promote their albums/eps/bla bla bla. Back in 1990s, yes I know they had those but It wasn't widely utilized untill the early 2000s. I was talking to a man at my local CD store and I asked him
"how come they don't sell any eps/demos in stores like this anymore?"
he replied
"the internet is killing the CD business"
I replied
"

"
So back then, I assusumed that the best of the best bands were able to sell themselves to the world. Because the crappy ones were left to die. Now that we are using the internet, we are exposed to all the crappy and decent bands out there. Also, with the realms of metal expanding, many bands are done with the old and trying to be in with the new even though they might have gained influences from a particular band. I can bet you that bands in the comming years will mention on facebook that they will be influenced by bands such as
Taake,
Suicide Silence and
Parkway Drive along with all the classic death metal/black metal/hardcore/thrash metal bands out there.
I agree with Pavel when he mentions that there are now more bands who use computers to enhance their music. I honestly don't care one bit about it though, because if they can play their music live, it doesn't matter wheather they have high quality recording. This is the 21st century mate, I think that this will not end... but, no matter how grim the future might be interms of classic death/black metal keep on searching because there are bound to be other people and bands who share your taste in music
I remember having fun once, it was terrible...
