I guess I'm a little late to this thread, and I never came up with a definitive list this year, but as always, Anaal Nathrakh takes the number 1 spot. Vanitas was huge step up from Passion. A lot more melodic passages and more electronic stuff in between the walls noise and Blood curdling screams. Aborted's Global Flatline is still a favorite of mine along with Bloodshot Dawn's debut album and Dyscarnate's And so it came to pass

did you hear of Bloodshot Dawn from Infidel Amsterdam by any chance?

Best album for me was probably Beheaded new album, Never to Dawn

I usually don't keep up with music as it comes out so I've hardly heard anything from 2012. I can say that Mg?a’s album With Hearts Towards NoNe is a great album that came out this year, so there's that... Oh, and Burzum's Umskiptar. I think those are all the 2012 albums I've heard.

actually, I think I heard of em through a BlogSpot called No Clean Singing. I've never paid much attention to the Amsterdam fella other than admiring that sweet beard he's got.Mgla's new album was pretty great, probably one of the best Black Metal releases this year. Pact's debut album The Dragon Lineage of Satan was pretty good too, kinda had a bit of a Von sound, at least to me... I've been told I'm wrong on this analysis.
