I'm pretty new to Black Metal, and I'm looking for suggestions on bands to check out. I already listen to Darkthrone and Nattefrost...so something similar?
Thanks

Well, lets see

If you like really Brutal, but HQ Black Metal check out:

Marduk (World Funeral)
Endstille (Infektion 1813)
Belphegor (Lucifer Incestus)
Infernal War (Terrorfront)
Blaze of Perdition (The Hierophant)

But if you're looking for something extra special, try out Dødkvlt

Not sure if it's your style, but I seriously recommend the album Temples of Torment by Ravencult.

add to that list:

early Sodom
early Kreator
early Destruction
Rotting Christ
Dissection
Watain
Aura Noir

@ Miniradman: wtf is HQ and Brutal on Endstille and Infernal War? They are just a little faster than the average BM band.
The last Endstille was good but doesn't top the older work.

BM isn't about Brutality in general, it's about message and atmosphere... even among those War Black/death abnd, atmosphere is the most important, not the brutality. Keep your quest for Brutality in Deathcore or Grind

Screw first wave BM, it doesn't sound anything like Darkthrone or Nattefrost (since when was Slayer black metal!?!?!)

The number of lectures that I've had about remembering that Black Metal is more than just "brutality" is astounding...

And did you even listen to Dødkvlt?

I already knew Dodskult before, so.... yes. Good band

Slayer was classified BM back in the days with their first Show No Mercy album. Mainly because of the satanistic/ violent lyrics and image

First wave BM rocks! Learn your history and appreciate the pure unspoiled musicianship of these bands: music without restrains

She didn't ask for Darkthrone clones either

I still have trouble conceeding how; violent and Satanic lyrics "automatically" makes a band Black Metal or "first wave".
And I can appreciate a certain genre, without actually liking it. I believe every rock/hardcore/metal genre is without restraint, it's just those who write it are be bound by creating their own limitations. It just so happens that Black Metal bands don't have limitations

One way or another... Many bands i've posted show similarities with Darkthrone or Nattefrost and are essentials when getting into bm

Thanks for all the suggestions. Gotta admit, I laughed at the mini-argument over what should/shouldn't be suggested xD
