oh and have you heard Weakling? listened to the album 'dead as dreams' today and it reminded me a lot of Leviathan, which i know you like.

I will listen to that ColdWolrd song, but I can say I have listened to Dead as Dreams and I think that, though it has some good moments, it ultimately fails as an experimental Black Metal album because it doesn't come close to justifying all of the 20-minute tracks. The title song, for instance, starts remarkably well, but after the intro it seems the band runs out of Ideas and attempts to pad out the remaining 20 minutes of the song with whatever they can think of, and for the most part it's quite bland. Weakling hardly possess any of the twisted-melody mastery and berzerk signature changes as well as Leviathan. Then again, I've heard Leviathan's first Two albums countless times and I've only heard Dead as Dreams three times.

yeah i just thought you might like it because of the changes of emotions the songs go through like Leviathan does, not really a fan myself.
You Ever seen that "one man metal" doco with Jef Whithead in it? quite interesting.

I just listened to that ColdWorld song... talk about rock and roll! They sound like a rock and roll band from the 70s or 80s with a lot of distortion and growled vocals. The riffs and the drumming are so cliche it's almost like parody. I did like the use of string-sounding synths, especially later in the song where they seem to grow out of the background and rise in the production until they overwhelm the guitars. The vocals were a bit too high in the production (they should have been under the guitars, considering the effect the band was going for of a "wailing-voice-being-carried-on-the-wind" sort of thing). Ultimately the song lacked any forward Drive and just kinda frittered around for Six minutes before fading off quite randomly. So... it's kinda meh, really. Maybe this just isn't the best song off this particular album?

I'm not sure if I told you but I have lsitened to Wedard, and thought that they were quite good. Much better than this stuff, anyway!

After listening to it at work yesterday i thought it might be a bit bland or not technical enough for ya. I personally love that album myself, and though there is a bit of difference in some of the other songs i don't think you will like them if you didn't like that song.

At least you liked Wedard, finally someone on this site likes something i mention .

Technicality isn't very important to me if the music is good. I listen to Rammstein and their riffs are primitively simplistic most of the time but are used very well. ColdWorld hardly does anything unique.

I think you should try listening to Urfaust. They're DSBM but very different and use simplicity and repetition very well. They're probably my favourite DSBM band, assuming you don't count Leviathan.

funny how the same people can like the same band and then totally disagree on a another band, not my cup of whiskey sorry bud.

i assuming you have heard 'i shalt become' ?

You might like Urfaust's earlier stuff, but I won't force them on you. From my perspective their Two latest albums are perfect--their first is a bit rough around the edges but still great.

Anyway, I've actually Wanted to listen to I Shalt Become for a while now but have never gotten around to it. They're on my list, though.

i think they are pretty good, not AMAZING. Allot of people rave about 'i shalt become' like it's the best thing to come out of america.

and i'm assuming that you have seen that "one man metal" doco seems you didn't answer that question.
