7/10 A good modern raw black metal song, but being as I don't like raw modern BM very much that's a pretty good rating coming from me. It's interesting most of the way through, which is important, and that higher level of guitar melody brings a good sense of melody into the mix, and there's good riff construction as the song proceeds. More progression than I initially expected. Vocals are quite lackluster, but I find the rest of the music more interesting anyway.
The reson this doesn't exceed 7/10 is because it's just not very inventive or innovative or creative etc. I could hear very similar songs from bands like Sterbend and others along those lines.

Tough decision posting my own vid to rate, so I posted some classic BOC.

9.5/10 That was both beautiful and catchy

Now, even though I don't like Death at all, Chuck was an amazing guitarist.

Here is a band that he was in that I love.

7/10. Liked that riff at (around) 1.50

Ive been told to listen to Mayhem's "De Mysteriis DOM Sathanas" to get a taste for raw BM. Pretty impressed i must say. The vocals are not at all what i thought they'd be. Here's my favourite song from the album, and yes i know it's not Freezing moon.

I must be living under a rock. 10/10 that was some damn good shit. Know anymore bands similar to that? Am Beginning to think that BM is way way better than i thought it was.

I just found this band tonight. Sounds good.

Do you have some sort of DSBM fetish?
I'll explain now why I don't like DSBM:
Some of it is good, but most of it sounds so similar.... shrieky Varg-esque vocals that echo like crazy, buzzy guitars that sound like Rain or a Swarm of angry bees, either slow drums or blast-beating guitars...
This coming from a guy who loves Drone, avant-garde, and noise.
The only thing I can say is that it portrays Gloom well, but how hard is that reall? Spacey production+chord progressions in minor=sad music. I guess I can say I particularly like what the lead guitar is doing even if it is repetitive, because it adds some organic feeling to the music.
Ehhhh, I'll give it 5.5/10

You want real haunting/gloomy/atmospheric music? Try this:

Oh, and at Ryan5, glad you like DMDS. I disagree about Funeral Fog though--either the title song or Life Eternal are the best songs on there. The maniacal vocal climax of Life Eternal and the audacity and Power and Evil on the title song just cannot be beat.
