It's a bit of a dangerous Road because the turns are at a difficult angle... plus a large portion of it is suspended or dug on cliffs, some turns don't have those protective metal walls (mainly because they fall off cliffs in Winter), rocks might fall - that's why the Road is open only 3 months a year in summer

You can't really see it in photos, but when you drive, you get the feeling that the world finishes at The End of the Road - simply because all you see in front of you is the sky and the edge of a cliff.

Note to self: Don't go on that road.

It's not that bad as I made it seem  if you're with a good Driver, than all is fine. The view there is totally worth it. Plus, it's the fastest way to Transilvania , rather than having to go around the mountains.

First of all nice photo's. I really would like to visit Romania as soon as I can.

About that road: looks tricky but i've seen it somewhere before... I think the guys from Top Gear once tested some supercars on that road. It's really scary tosee someone drive at 100 km/h or faster on that Twisted Road

I think that thing on Top Gear was around Brasov (or Kronstadt in its old german name), also in the Carpathins(not really far from the Transfagarasan) - also a Road with a view with high angle serpentines, but it isn't such a high fall like in the Fagaras, plus they have reinforced parapets there.

Canyon De Chelly, not very far from where I live

Window Rock, Arizona; near the tribal capital

"White House" Anasazi (Navajo word for Ancients) Ruins, at Bottom of De Chelly

picture doesn't show, but the Ruins are fenced off.

Unfortunately, the towns and cities out here in the Southwest aren't very impressive looking.

My new tattoo on my left calf, as you can see below. I'm playing Werewolf with some friends, hence all of us sitting on the Floor in a circle.

You look almost exactly like one of my friends.
