I was wondering who here likes neofolk. I'd like to hear your favourites or opinions on the genre.

My favourite would probably be Death In June or Tenhi

I love neofolk!
If you have any respect for the genre, listen to:

Empyrium's final album, called 'Weiland' is the perfect neofolk album. I also like Ulver's 'Kveldssanger'.

I always thought about that album, but never listened to it. Thanks for the recommendation.

Airut:aamujen by Tenhi

Try this album, it is very good.

I like Tehni... but I classified it as 'experimental stuff' in my mind, together with the rest of the Dark Bombastic Evening bands (we have this festival in Bucharest for this kind of experimental music - last year I SAW Rome, Triarii and Ordo Rosario Equilibrio. This year's edition has Ataraxia and Sol Invictus). Can't say I'm crazy about this stuff, but it's interesting to listen to, when in the right mood.

Didn't know exactly what 'neofolk' is until I looked it up 2 minutes ago....0  damn these genres.

I'm listening to that Tehni album you suggested... I'm on Luopumisen Laulu, and MAN does the introduction sound like a part from Tool's song 'Intension'!

I don't understand what this band is doing on SOM, though...

Most, if not all, of the ambient dark is neofolk on here, not just Tenhi.

Neofolk kicks some serious ass. While admittedly I know jack shit about the genre and have only listened to neofolk material by former metal bands (Empyrium and Agalloch) what I did hear was wonderful and definitely left me wanting more. Perhaps somebody with a more extensive knowledge on the genre could throw a couple of good pure-neofolk bands out there?

I'm also starting to get interested into them, and Empyrium.
I don't listen to neofolk, but I like Death In June, and Sopor Aeternus . And Current 93, if they can be called Neofolk
