Do you think it takes more skill to have more than one role in a band?
Yes, obviously
No, why would you even think that?

This might be a dumb question to ask, but do you think that people who both are lead singers and lead guitarists/drummers are higher respected then people who do things individually?

I've read and heard from places and people, that people who have more then one role in a band is better at what they do. I think otherwise...what do you think?

People who have more than one role in a band are higher respected.

It's hard to focus on the instrument and the vocals at the same time but that doesn't mean that they are better in what they do. It depends of each person.

For example Dave Mustaine (my childhood hero) did a great job on lead guitar and vocals.

That's my opinion.

Vocals are both the easiest and hardest instrument to master.

Easy: you have it always with you, it's unique, it can be used in many styles and directions...

Hard: vocals are the most fraile instrument since dry/humid air, illness, fatigue can decrease and Harm the prestation. Vocals require more control and skill to he used correctly.

It's also hard to combine guitar wit vox since it requires multitasking so a deep knowledge of both instruments is required

I like this question.  I honestly think it does not matter if they just sing or play an instrument.  My favorite kind of lineup is a lead singer, Two guitarists, a bassist and drummer, and maybe a keyboardist.  It just seems to be a good Balance in my opinion.  I think if the singer just sings, there is a possibility the vocals could be more powerful and intense.  Take Hansi from Blind Guardian for example.  He sounded great while playing bass and still sounds great just singing.  I still have just as much respect for him.  I think as long as you are an incredible vocalist, it shouldn't really matter.  Like Panzerjager said, vocals are the easiest and hardest instrument to Master, and I believe that.
