Benighted doesn't play "Melodic Death Metal". I think you're mistaking the groove in Benighted for something "Melodic". They certainly do not ultrablast like Krisiun or Rebaelliun but they don't share anything with DT, ATG or In Flames.

I think that kind of groove is a French trademark if you ask me, it's even clearer in bands like Gorod or better still Trepallium.

yeah it does seem to be more of an overseas trademark sound, i like it alot, there oughta be some kind of more defining genre for those kind of Rhythmic Death Metal bands

Arch Enemy

Black Dahlia Murder (I've been told they're melo death but also heard they were deathcore... I'm leaning towards melo death but can anyone clear this up?)

to me, their older stuff was more Melodic Death Metal, but their newer stuff has some Deathcore sounds in it.
