I just remember a while back ago you were praising that album pretty highly; I never thought to check it out until not too long ago. From The Black Coffin Lair's opening riff hooked me and I never turned back. They even made the obligatory slow song every Black Metal band feels the need to ADD to round out the album (Twilight Breath of Satan) awesome. That song is never awesome.

Have you heard Sargeist's other Two full-lengths? Satanic Black Devotion almost sounds too minimal and crude for me because I heard LtDI first but Disciple of the Heinous Path has some of the best songs Shatraug's written.

This is some of the best new Black Metal I've heard in a long time. Fulla great, empowering, catchy-as-shit pure black fuckin metal riffage. I never thought I'd say this but I Wish I listened to minirad back when he was hyping this shit up.
LOVE that album, It gets a lot of flak from some black metal fans on account of you can hear the bass in it, but I think it's probably my favorite album by Sargeist. And overall, they're one of the best sounding new Finnish Black Metal acts.

Do Black Metal fans get pissed off by bass these days? I guess they just completely dismiss the production on De Mysteriis... :

What's wrong with a bass guitar in BM? Quite some bm bands have rather loud bass guitars nowadays:

One Tail One Head, Negura Bunget, The Stone, almost all war Black Metal bands

Exactly. And most old norsk Black Metal had a good bass presence besides Darkthrone, but Darkthrone is lame anyway so who cares.
Then you have the bands without a bassist at all like Urfaust, and they still sound awesome.

I wouldn't call Darkthrone lame, they play the Hell they want to play: if it is black, death or heavy metal/punk nowadays. I respect that attitude and well, they piss off quite some whiney immature fans for changing styles so radically

Frankly I don't care that Darkthrone's gone punk. Given how bland and repetitive their Black Metal material was I would guess that they're probably better now than they were. I haven't heard any Darkthrone album that I've solidly liked aside from Soulside Journey, and even that one wasn't exactly a masterpiece.

Soulside has a pretty interesting distortion sound... Sounds Swedish but not quite. Few had such distortion, the main reason I like that album :p

Just bought Destroyer 666 - Phoenix rising... for some reason out of all their cool stuff it is considered their best album, so they metal distributors pretty much stocked up on it.
