Let me explain. most Grindcore is VERY fast paced, and often lacks melodies & harmonization. where as Deathcore and Metalcore often make the harmonization more noticeable and prevalent in the music. making Deathcore and Metalcore the kinda melo-death versions of the -core genres.

makes sense to me lol.

You missed one thing, there are very few solos during grindcore.

I think there's an explanation to that. If the songs are this short, do you think there's time for a solo?

true, i've come to the conclusion that Grindcore is another subgenre of metal, although certain songs may resemble PARTS of other x-core songs, it's not related. :D that's my theory atleast. so solo or not, it's just grindcore.

I love that Agoraphobic Nosebleed album. Livin lolita blowjob cracks me up every time I play that album ("btw" that's a play-on-words of the Ricky Martin song Livin la vida loca)

This may have been one of the dumbest questions I've seen here ever, and I was here when mini still thought the guy from BMTH was the best metal vocalist. It's just a fucking genre name. Grindcore was the result of punk artists trying to one-up each other in extremity, much the same way Death Metal was the resultant of metal artists doing the same thing. Over the years, artists have mixed grind with various metal and punk genres. Some grind will sound Closer to Metalcore, some Closer to stuff like Sore Throat, some Closer to Dying Fetus.

It's not part of any sort of fucking "family" or anything. Jesus.

Grindcore is an Extreme genre of music that started in the early- to mid-1980s. It draws inspiration from some of the most Abrasive music genres – including Death Metal, industrial music, noise and the more Extreme varieties of Hardcore punk.

wikipedia, and i believe it answeres the question. Grindcore is just an amalgamation of genres across the "Brutal" Spectrum.

yeah let's just all look it up on wikipedia that's way better than listening to the music ourselves or reading interviews from people actually involved in the scene at the time and making our decisions based on that, right?

Of course various bands took influences from various genres, that doesn't mean Grindcore itself is an amalgam of genres. Burzum has heavy Candlemass influence, does that make Burzum doom metal? no. Celtic Frost was big on deathrock and gothic rock, Forgotten Woods was big on Oi! punk, bands take influence from other genres all the time, that doesn't mean the bands' music itself is relevant to that genre at all.  Grind is an Extreme form of punk with occasional dabblings into metal and Hardcore, most of the time. Maybe Napalm Death and Terrorizer liked to listen to a lot of goth rock or glam while recording "World Downfall" and "Scum". Who gives a fuck.

and no Enigmatick, I did not think BMTH's vocalist was the best, I thought Suicide Silence's vocalist was
