A few of my friends tell me that more metal guys listen to 'true'/'brutal' (whatever your definition of 'true' metal is is entirely up to you) metal than metal chicks do. When I asked them what they meant, they asked me how many chicks I knew that listened to stuff like Grave, Morbid Angel, Vader, Nile etc and as a matter of fact I do know a few girls who are into that kind of music, but only a few. (Perhaps it's because I don't know many metal chicks.) My friends then told me that is because most metal chicks listen exclusively to metalcore and other more mainstream styles, and that the 'true' metal is a boys' club. I don't believe that's quite true, but seeing as metalheads are scarce in South Africa, I don't have much evidence to form an opinion on. Let me know what you think.

well. where should i start?
first of all you should ask the question if the guys really listen to bands like Grave, Morbid Angel, Vader, Nile etc. or if they just say they listen to "harder" stuff.
maybe the chicks dont feel that awful to say they prefer mainstream styles as the guys do.
i for myself can say i know many chicks that listen to much more Brutal stuff then those you listed there. i dont think its a question of chicks or guys. moreover a question where you look for those chicks and guys.. in a mainstream "metal" disco or at a Brutal festival or concert?

well, I really don't like Brutal and grind (along with cores) but I don't listen to them cause I don't like the theme of their music.
I prefer more harmonic music like Doom Metal and DBM, but I hate some of nowadays
BM bands which think that scary make-up, "hail satan" and "fuck jesus" is enought to play BM

by the way metal isn't the only genre I listen to, and I think the moust heavy music I've ever listend is Beethoven's  Symphonies

Well.....ummm.....I have an example of a girl in mind (old active members must know who i mean   ) that is listening to 10 times more Brutal stuff than me , hahahah, i am trying to follow her , but her knowledge is just ubelievable . Apart from her, that for me is unique , i know only a few girls with such a passion in metal and knowledge...Ummmm, in fact i dont think i know any...
