Cannibal Corpse is certainly the most popular band in DM for a long time now (along with Deicide). CC sold more than a Million records throughout their career, got solid media exposure from the start because of their visuals and lyrical theme and thanks to some guy named Jim Carey (Ace Ventura pet detective, ring any bell?) or thanks to them being Censored in Germany. They haven't started being famous overnight.

As for the subject, I really don't care too much about chicks listening to metal. I know some but indeed there's too little of them out there. If I had been waiting to marry some 'metal chick', I probably would still be a bachelor as of today and I wouldn't want the slutty kind to end up my bed (or for that matter in someone else's).

I myself thought up this theory too. Most chicks I had listened to what they thought was metal, which turned out to be not true. They listened to Slipknot, Tool, Shadows Fall, Trivium, etc. But when I introduced them to bands I listened to, they can stand it, but were never interested in it.

So in my opinion, it all just depends in what region the chick was raised in and what people they hung out with first before they found the love of metal. Being said, I believe all "metalchicks" in the states are considered liking mainstream a little too much, because its overly exposed in Revolver and shit magazines like that.

Asmodelica likes my music and also introduced me to bands I have never heard of, which is surprisngly the first metalchick I ever cam across that likes the same music as me. Although, she's more of a porngrinder than a metalchick imo, its def. the best thing in the world when you got a chick that likes the same music as you ;)

I don't care about what's Underground or Mainstream. I listen to what I feel like to.

Lately, it has become cool not to listen to the Mainstream bands, not because their music is good or bad, but because their music have become too popular. Now, that's a prejudice. And prejudices shouldn't exist in any place, and Metal is not an exception.

Now answering directly to the topic, I think the point is that girls normally have less trouble admitting that they like less Brutal bands than guys. Guys seem to have a reputation of manhood to maintain, while we don't.

Its just a manifestation the whole 'contest to be the alpha male'.
