To be somewhat fair, Vomitory were actually around in the early 90's - their early demos were around the tail end of the original Swedeath movement. I'm not the biggest fan of them but I enjoy Redemption a lot.

Learn something new every day...still, though, sometimes the later stuff (it's all I've heard to be honest) seems like a hollow shell of Swedeath. Self-plagiarism, perhaps?

Opus Mortis is that hollow shell you mean. It's their newest album. Extremely meh. Carnage Euphoria is great. If you want good Vomitory, check out Revelation Nausea (my personal favourite from them) or Redemption (like Loudpipes said).

Having discovered the band with this album, I would disagree with that. I found it pretty dynamic and inspired, I don't know what it worths compared to their previous records but I doubt it's that big of a difference and I strongly think that it's a good album, not meant to be original that's for sure, but highly effective.

It's actually different compared to their older works.

Opus Mortis is death/thrash to me. That's not a problem; I don't like the album, but I do like the style. Before that, Vomitory had a more Brutal, yet melodic sound to them. Listen to the song I posted and you'll see.

Yes, the song is pretty good, it's a little bit darker and they've obviously modernized their sound throughout the years, but I still hear a lot of similarities with the newest record.

Lost In Thought - Opus Arise.

Holy Jesus In Heaven, these guys RULE. I think they blow Dream Theater out of the water.
It has a bit of instrumental in the tracks, as well as vocals that would fit in a Power Metal band. Blood Red Diamond is the track that stands out the most, imo.

Well, most things do

Now for me.

A great album. Plenty of awesome riffs. Every instrument can be heard. Not as good as Symphony Masses, but still great.

I've discovered some days ago, not bad. But ... you put that on a Death/Grind topic ? I've created a Heavy/Power topic at the following link, if you want :

I agree. I love the recent albums, but this first disc has a really good atmosphere. My favorite song is "Megalomania", excellent riff and it's the same for the solo.

To precise : I come on the english part of the site to write a little bit english, because I do not practise since two years. I learnt at school, but my first language is french. So, sorry if, sometimes, I write bad.

nah mate, for each and every mistake, you'll be Sentenced to lick Seth Putnam's armpits in hell!

Intestinal - Human Harvest

If NWOOSDM doesn't mean anything to you, you probably won't be interested in this. It's Swedish and it pays tribute to early Dismember and Carnage. Some Autopsy sounding riffs as well. Nothing revolutionary, but I don't think they had that in mind anyway.

Good stuff.
