With 10 behind us we can list the year's success' and fails.
I'll add mine in a couple of days when I get back.

I would recommend two albums from 2010.

Blood Revolt - Indoctrince
Eibon - Entering Darkness

Worst? I don't buy shitty music (nor would want to download it ).

my oh my oh my Blood Revolt is better than Sex
Definitely a new take on Death Metal for sure.
While you're giving me Sick recs, do you know of any other bands that you'd recommend that sound similar? It's not like this is a popular sound, but it's worth a shot.

Yes, Blood Revolt is awesome. Death Metal + Primordial's singer.

I'd say that Kerasphorus is pretty close. Kind of hard to say similar bands with Blood Revolt; too unique at the moment.

Holy shit! When I heard the band, I thought "hey, this kinda sounds like Nemtheanga", but I didn't know it actually WAS Nemtheanga singing. No wonder it's so good, everything that guy touches turns to gold.

Kerasphorus is good too! hot damn, I swear there's something different going on with both these bands than there usually is in Death Metal but I can't quite put my finger on it.

As Mercenarion put it, Blood Revolt is too unique at the moment for me to recommend something else similar. As for it being Death Metal, that's tricky. It's got a lot and not only Death Metal.

I hear more Black Metal in the style of Revenge or Conqueror (War Metal? I Hate the label though) in the music with some Speed Metal / Heavy Metal influences as well. As for the singer, sometimes he's Heavy Metal, sometimes Black Metal, sometimes he's just a freaking schizo...

Anyway, that record is not safe to be played while driving!

Actually, you're right, it's not fully death metal. They seem to be one of those Extreme metal bands that you can't really categorize into any genre. Honestly, I'd almost call it "melodic war metal"

Are you a fan of Nemtheanga's other bands? He sounds good on the Blood Revolt album, but he's definitely had better performances on other albums.

To be perfectly honest, I do not know his other acts. The first thing that drew me into this was the fact that it had members from Revenge and Axis of Advance.

Probably posted this already once: if you're interested in 'War metal' or whatever you call it: http://www.nwnprod.com/nwnfest/

Holy Hell Gandhi, you gotta hear Primordial then! It's incredibly powerful, pensive folk metal- though I hesitate to use the genre descriptor "folk metal" because they sound so unlike any other Folk Metal I've heard.

Pretty much all of their albums are gold, but this is a personal favorite track:
