While the year may not yet be finished, it's that time of the year where we start looking at who did a good job and who sucked.

Great if not formidable:

Cadaverous Condition - Burn Brightly Alone (I think Merc may follow me on that one)
Mr. Death - Descending Through Ashes
Merciless Terror - Perpetual Devastation
Thornesbreed - 273.15 Degrees Below Zero
Wormrot - Dirge (though it's more Grindcore)

Very good:

Azarath - Blasphemers' Malediction
Detonation - Reprisal
Necros Christos - Doom of the Occult
Lord Shades - The Rise of Meldral-Nok
Vader - Welcome to the Morbid Reich
Stillborn - Los Asesinos del sur
Reckless Manslaughter - Storm of Vengeance
Gholes - Coexistence
Dripback - Inhaling the Ashes
Vastum - Carnal Law
Cerebral Bore - Maniacal Miscreation

Good:

Khariot - Disymposium
The Rotted - Ad Nauseam
Temple Of Baal / Ritualization split
Syphor - Stained Glass Blasphemy
Goreaphobia - Apocalyptic Necromancy
Vader of Man - Dystopian Order: The Age of Detritus
Requiem Laus - As Long as Darkness Bleeds
Shrapnel Storm - At Dawn
Ancient Ascendent - The Grim Awakening
Derb Forgaill - Teaching Pain
Praetoria - The New Reign

Barely OK:
Ingested - The Surreption
Korpius - Shades of Black
Pandemic Genocide - Mighty Apocalypse
Ichor - Benthic Horizon

Shit:
Deus Otiosus - Murderer
Zombie Inc. - A Dreadful Dicease

Worse than shit:
MA - III

That's all I have for 2011. You'll notice some "classic" bands are not there. Some I don't care about some I'll care about later on.

Comments, feedback, your own thing. Welcome to my Morbid Reich.

Indeed, Cadaverous Condition's is my Death Metal AOTY, but now it has competition. Antediluvian's debut is absolutely Insane

Immolation's EP was fantastic also.

Antediluvian just came out right? It's on my list for sure. I loved the demo comp. Haven't listened to Immolation's EP yet but this is typically the band that does not fulfill expectations. Quite the contrary.

Kartikeya's new album is definitely still my first pick for album of the year. the mixture of Death Metal and Vedic instruments is so innovative and badass. Asylum cave by Benighted was really great too, not any better than Icon, but still a solid deathgrind release. New Krisiun is pretty good too, better than southern storm. Fleshgod's latest release is kind of a letdown for me, way too much symphonics and annoying falsettos, half of the songs did Nothing for me (though the egoism, Hypocrisy, and forsaking are all great tracks). Carnival is forever was fucking awful, GOD I Hate that album more than the new Morbid angel. It sounds like Soulfly or some industrial Nu Metal shit.
Other honorable mentions go to
Cannabis corpse - Beneath grow lights Thou shalt rise
Beyond Creation - the aura
Insomnium - one for sorrow
Deicide - to Hell with GOD
Jungle Rot - Kill on command
Origin - Entity
nightrage - insidious
Vile - metamorphosis

Just Saw Fleshgod Apocalypse together with Decapitated yesterday. FA was/is a joke live, thye look and sound like the Adams Family.

Decapitated was fine though of course they rely more on their older tracks to set the stage on fire (Winds of Creation, Spheres of Madness...).

Ugh... in terms of pop metal, Blood Stain Child's new album destroys them.

Hahaha... pop metal

Pretty much all of the blogspots are obsessing over this album and they truly believe that this will be album of the year 2011.
