This is a hard topic to finger point just like every other "what is best" forum. There are just too many bands and sub-genres to say there is a best personally my favorite Black Metal bands would be.....emperor, Venom, Watain, Sigh, Satanic Warmaster, Ulver (Old), Samael (Old), Belphegor, Bethlehem, Behexen, helheim, Bathory, ect... i cannot stand Burzum, Behemoth, Mayhem, Marduk (1 or 2 ok songs), ect.... i could not point at a single one of those bands and say, "ok that is my favorite" :P

I like Beherit, Carpathian Forest, Darkthrone,...And Oceans and many more Black Metal bands, but I got to say that Mayhem is the best.
