Why would you expect anyone to know or like these bands? They're early black metal. In otherwords, they all wanted to be underground and keep to themselves. So naturally, not many people have heard of them. |

You guys shitting me? All the major second-wave bands, Xasthur and Taake are all HUGELY popular by black metal's standards. A lot of Swedish melodic BM bands (Dark Funeral, Marduk) are pretty well-known too. The only reason you haven't met people that don't like much Black Metal is because you only really associate with people in your age range, mini. I'd imagine that most BM fans are a little older than you, and it's understandable why most people you meet like post-hardcore, it's pretty much the same for me minus a few people I've met. Also, the best Black Metal band's gotta be Burzum. Varg has a knack for capturing a certain atmosphere in his songs that's never quite been equaled. |
| Demogorefest says : i agree with you totally about the age factor, more than likely, the reason why he hasn't met many (or any at all) BM fans is because it seems like alot of Black Metal fans tend to be the "loner" type, they probly aren't too easy to spot either, alot of the True Black Metal Elitist types i know really don't look the type; short hair, quiet, and hardly ever see em wearing band t-shirts. the main diffrence i see between the "kvlt" Black Metal fans and other metalheads is they really aren't the social type at all, its hard to find em, they prefer to be alone and isolated i think |
: short hair, and I barely wear metal shirt to go out or to go to school (at home i wear them very often) but I'm social and not a too quiet
. Though your description is very true. I met one guy who was really into BM (don't think it was a "cultist" and he wasn't really a big talker but that's just my opinion. Once I visited a Dutch BM forum on the net and I really hated the atmosphere there, not friendly like you have here on SoM and so much moaning about that kvlt etc. | Panzerjager says : citation :
Absolutly correct Demo. Looks like I have certain elements of your description of a KVLT Black Metal fan : short hair, and I barely wear metal shirt to go out or to go to school (at home i wear them very often) but I'm social and not a too quiet . . i listen to way more Death Metal than Black Metal now, though i still occasionally dig up some classic albums (in the Nightside Eclipse and pretty much anything but Gorgoroth). i'm usually pretty social, not at school so much, but at concerts i'm usually talking with everyone | Demogorefest says : citation :
i used to be more into The Black Metal stuff, i think i've slowly progressed over to the Death Metal side lately though, the only shirts i ever wear are metal shirts . i listen to way more Death Metal than Black Metal now, though i still occasionally dig up some classic albums (in the Nightside Eclipse and pretty much anything but Gorgoroth). i'm usually pretty social, not at school so much, but at concerts i'm usually talking with everyone |
