refractorhead says : No question, VENOM!!!

I have always wondered why the Hell Megadeth was one of the big 4 to begin with.  There were several bands before them and more important and influential than them.

100% agree, fukking mustaine took Jeffrey Dunn's play style and put it into political trendy shit... Venom has influenced all three Extreme genres of Heavy Metal, Thrash, Death, and Black.
11000% my point!

The actual Big Four suck. Their first few albums were good. These days they're horrible. If it was up to me the Big Four would be:

Kreator
Destruction
Onslaught
Demolition Hammer

with Nifelheim getting a special mention at number 5.

For me Overkill, without a doubt. Otherwise probably Testament.

Definitely Exodus or Testament.  I did vote for Testament because I love Chuck Billy's Voice, and I liked Formation of Damnation better than Exodus' most recent albums.  But I still listen to Exodus and Testament religiously.

Exodus's first and Testaments first 2 are the only albums I go back to from those bands. The rest is average bar the odd song.

If Holy Terror had stayed together, it might be them.
But I haven't heard too much thrash compared to other genres, so I can't really say.
