I'm a bit pissed off with some so called fans of metal music being so
closed minded when it comes to other genres and their bands.

I Hate it when people say It's not metal or they're not metal, just
because it's not the type they normally listen to or like.

I may not be a fan of a band like Bullet For My Valentine, but to say
they're not metal just because it's not as heavy as your own taste of
metal music, really gets up my nose.

Everywhere i go on the Internet I hear the words, that's not metal,
concerning all kinds of bands and all kinds of genres.



Am I the only one who thinks that metal doesn't have to be heavy.

Am I the only one who thinks that if a metal band becomes too commercial and popular
that it IS still metal.

Am I the only one that thinks if a metal band uses turntables that they
ARE still a metal band.

Am I the only one that thinks if a metal band Decide to cut their long
hair that they ARE still metal.

Am I the only one that looks at a metal band who are not wearing black
and have a silly gay haircut but thinks they ARE still metal.



Saying that a band is not metal when it clearly is but you just so
happen not to like it or even like the look of of a band, is not in the SPIRIT OF
METAL.

A:Who am I or you to say what metal should be. Metal should be diverse and for any man, woman, colour, culture, age or religion.

A: Sorry but i don't understand the question. If what you meant was. Do you think it doesn't matter how the band looks, then obviously no it doesn't matter and why should it. Just like why should it matter what Sex, age or colour they are

The problem is that metal is being made mainstream at a time when it's bad to be mainstream. A while back, Metallica, Jimi Hendrix, Led Zeppelin, The Who, the Beatles, etc were considered mainstream, and they didn't have to alter their image or sell out in order to make serious cash.
 
Now, metal is carrying on it's place of being mainstream... although now being mainstream Means altering your image and conforming to a certain group. Also it's all about the emo/screamo garbage now.
That's why it's best to stick to the underground metal bands.

Emo and Screamo will pass on by just like Grunge and other trendy genres. Hair Metal bands in the 80's altered their image and conformed to a certain group. It will always happen. You can't blame bands for wanting to make more cash. I bet some of the underground bands we listen to would jump at the chance of making more cash. It just gets on my tits when people say a band isn't metal when it clearly is, It's just people being Prejudice.

personally, i consider myself a Metal Supremacist, i put all genres of music below metal, they are inferior to heavy metal. and when i see bands like Bring Me The Horizon which particularly target people who know Nothing about the roots of our sacred music, it tarnishes our reputation as a pure, true music. though it will eventually Die out, it (just as with Grunge) will leave a lasting scar on the history of Heavy Metal

Well i agree with you in some points. The look of the band doesn't matter, check the band JBO, they have short hair, they sound a bit softer and they always wear pink, but they are still metal.
Even if it really sucks, but these bands you mentioned are the new generation of metal, you can do what you want, but this is metal nowdays (it Hurt writing this).
Like someone else stated earlier, when death and Thrash Metal came out, they also weren't considered as true metal, only bands like Sabbath or Maiden were metal at that time

If that shit music gets the kids into metal isn't that a good thing?. They will soon get board and grow out of that shit, and explore more bands, like Megadeth, then after a while they will turn to bands like Cannibal Corpse, and then start to Bitch about what kids are listening to nowadays, and saying that it is not real metal.

i have to admit that i am one of those kids0
i started listening to Disturbed and some other bands i'm not proud to say i once listened to, but i grew out of it after a short time. and now i ridicule the other kids that never moved on to better music0
