A unique and original avant-garde/symphonic black metal album

Transcending Bizarre? are a very unique and original band. Lots of bands experiment with their music and try to sound different but few of them manage to do it so succesfully. This one is their third album and it is probably the most mature and darkest of all. It is a concept album, both musically and lyrically. The music has it all: blastbeats, sad melodies, horror melodies, spooky atmosphere, unearthly and bizarre vocals, amazing performance from the guitarist the drummer and the vocalist. The band combines the epic grandeur of Dimmu Borgir with the avant-gardism of Arcturus and the theatrical mood of an old King Diamond album. The songwriting is complex and highly sophisticated and the tracks need multiple listens in order to be fully comprehended by the listener. Even so, the songs sound catchy and can not be considered tiring. Regarding the lyrics now, they talk about a scientist/hypnotist/philosopher who favours humanity but in the end of his life becomes a hardcore misanthrope and decides to hypnotize humanity. Eversince humanity is still asleep as the lyrics say. I think I agree but albums like this can wake men from slumber. Highly recommended and probably the best album in this genre for 2010.
