After holding a few concerts the band made their first entrance at Samrock..91 Festival where they obtained the popularity prize. At Studfest Timisoara..92, Altar turned out to be the revelation of the festival, and along with that came their recognition on a National level. Shortly after their rise, Altar participated to the most famous manifestations of kind (side by side with international rock bands like Ian Gillan, Uriah Heep, Anathema), had several appearances on TV and toured in Romanias biggest cities made. The band became one of the most important rock names in the country. ["Altar is unique in the history of Romanian rock. To my knowledge, no local band has ever had a such a big, immediate public success. If the success was produced so fast it means that Altar speaks the language of their generation.(Aurel Mitran - music management"]. Their music conception and the effervescent live appearances brought high popularity to the group along with critics appreciation. Hence Altar were labeled by the local press as being the best newcomers of 1992. [No offence to the others bands, but I have to say that Altar is by far above the standards of all the rock bands currently in Romania (Joey Alvare, music producer)]. In 1993 Altar came up with their first album The Last Warning. This was the best sold rock album after 1989 and the band obtained in the same year the Pop Rock and Show prize. In 1994 Altar participated to the Manic Depression Tour, an international tour with Era, Anathema and Schnit Acht. Altar recorded and released their second album in 1995. The new product Respect is sustained by a live appearance at the most important event of the year - Skip Rock - alongside of Kreator and Iron Maiden. Altar confirmed once again their value as the most important Romanian band of the 90s. Five years away from their founding and Altar already obtained a double success: they were recognized as being the best Romanian rock group, while the Respect album was labeled as the best rock of the year. [If you look over the Romanian rock scene, especially in the last years it wont be difficult to notice the fast ascent of Altar. One of their success keys resides in their spectacular live shows. No doubt that Altar is the best band in the country today. (Heavy Metal Magazine, 1995)] The success continued in 1996 after the Respect CD had been to the organizers of Sziget Festival in Hungary. The band was invited to sustain a concert on the main scene of the festival along with sound names like Iggy Pop and Prodigy. Altar was back then the only Romanian band invited to participate to an important international festival. In 1998, celebrating 7 years of existence, the group launched their third album. That time bands work reflected more maturity and professionalism, combining their unique style with an inspired instrumentation. The new album Born Again enjoyed as well a lot of success and boosted the group once again to the top of the rock music in Romania. 1999 witnessed a general decline in rock music not only in the country, but also on an international level, due to the rise of dance music. Consequently, the music industry broadly began to focus on this new music genre. The band members decided to take a break, hoping for better times ahead. In 2003, Altar made a sound comeback by opening the Sepultura concert in Bucharest with a best of recital which installed delirium among the Arenele Romanes public. Over 4000 people who were there and sang side by side with the band all their songs strengthened Altars decision to restart their musical activity. In the autumn of 2004 the group started their Altar 13 years tour in the biggest clubs all over the country. In 2005 Altar were invited to perform live at the most important rock events of the year, TOP T ( Buzau), Felsziget (Tg. Mures), Fanfest (Rosia Montana), Stufstock (Vama Veche), Rock your mind (Bucuresti). Altar shows were energetic and powerful and the band proved that they didnt lose any of their glimmer and can still set their public on fire. In 2006 Altar released their 4th LP - "Atitudine". For the first time the lyrics were exclusively in Romanian, the message inciting to a high form of protest against the senseless rules that restrict people's right of being truly free. Altar's music is about the same things as it always was: aggressiveness, pure fucking energy, force and ATTITUDE! With this record Altar made a Big step towards the Romanian Music Scene mixing the true Metal/Hardcore with drumn bass, electro, nu-school break beat, ragga, punk and industrial elements. The release of the album was sustained by a Tour of clubs in many big cities and also by band's first Video -"NASCUT INVINGATOR"(NATURAL BORN WINNER) - Starring the K-1 Undefeated National Reigning Champion IONUT IFTIMOAIE!!! Shortly Nascut Invingator became his soundtrack, his anthem in the K-1 fights. Celebrating 15 Years of existence Altar is nominated for the "Best Rock section" at MTV Romanian Music Awards and invited to make a stage act during the prize award festivity. In spring/summer of 2006 Altar will be working on the Biggest Scenes of the Biggest Open Air Festivals with super killer shows: Artmania Fest, Peninsula, Rock la Mures/Periam, Fanfest, Stufstock, opening shows for Giant Bands like Sick Of It All or The Exploited. For 2007 Altar prepaires The “Altar 15 years - Rock / Attitude / History” – the first official DVD and several concerts that mark the 15 years of existence. Also the band are preparing to hit again the biggest scenes of the Open Air Festivals this summer and the members are working very hard on a "Best Of" album, that will contain all the hits from the 4 albums and new ones! Moreover, after 10 Years, Altar is invited again to join The Biggest Hungarian Music Festival - Sziget-Budapesta. And history goes on and on......
