In France and in other European countries, you can buy Dark Throne,
Burzum or
Dimmu Borgir at your local supermarket (say Walmart for US references) sometimes even things a bit more 'underground'.
Take also a look at all the blogs there is
Out there where teenagers put on corpsepaint and rave on how
Gorgoroth and Tsujder are just the shit.
If you look at ebay under the metal section, you'll see that BM releases are like twice as much as DM or any other metal genre because every teen (or not so teen) loser with a DAT, a guitar and fruity loops thinks he can produce masterpieces in his basement.
BM is a popular music no matter what. Now everybody's so excited about how hot Sarcogago or Vulcano's musical awesomeness is where only a few thousand die-hard fans knew about them some 20 years ago.
The church burning thing and other outrageous things about that style that were so it could be kept so pure have produced exactly the opposite of what the bands were looking for. It put them so much under the spotlights that now listening to
Gorgoroth or
Blasphemy is just as unPC as listening to Slipknot.
That movie is certainly not going to help but it won't be responsible for a situation that already is.
Sorry about the long diatribe.
