Merciless -
The Awakening Obscenely
Vicious,
Savage black/death/thrash. Sweden delivers so much on the
Extreme metal front, and this record is one of the best the country has ever delivery.
Razor sharp riffs, unbelivably
Vicious vocals, and blinding tempos mark this record. It slows
Down only a few times (relatively), but when it does it becomes absolutely devastating, with the riffs really
SinKing in. This is one of the best thrash records you'll find, full stop.
Aura Noir -
Black Thrash Attack It does exactly what it says.
Aura Noir heavily
Worship the likes the early teutonic scene, but throw in a bit of that second wave
Black Metal sensibility. These guys blatantly reference
Kreator a couple of times, for instance. But it's really a very good listen, because while these guys are obviously paying tribute to those old kraut bands, it never feels forced. The riffs are strong, the percussion is surprising well done, and overall the album moves very well throughout. Very good album.
