The
only sure thing before the opening concert of Nevermore in Athens was
that the new Fuzz Club in Piraeus Street would be flooded by fans of a
band 13 or so, years before he ate 'boo' to being a support Iced Earth.
However,
the "Dreaming Neon Black" and then the metallers from Seattle to visit
very successful times in our country, which SAW the last Friday of May.
The
evening did not start so well after the stuffy heat of the ground Floor
of Fuzz combined with bad sound not left us to enjoy the Thessalonians
progressive metallers Rex Mundi, who was released about 3 years ago a
very good EP. The band seemed that work and are tied while noting it was a support band and the concert in Thessaloniki.
Last
time we SAW the Headline on Nevermore appearance was in 'Enemies Of
Reality' tour seven years ago as something mediocre "This Godless
Endeavor", something that many concerts make you choose often at the
expense of shapes that you see no had "cook" for the year 2005 at Club 22. Coupled
with very modest performances in March Metal Day 2007 Gods Of Metal
2006, the band seemed buried, a view that has changed heard very good
new album.
Once
we got very comfortable in the restaurant balcony, the Nevermore came
on stage with the terrible "Beyond Within" and "The River Dragon Has
Come" to cause delirium in the world. In
very good and voluminous sound, at least after the third track and
almost flawless performance immediately extinguished any negative
thoughts. Unfortunately,
Dane's voice was in poor condition, probably due to influenza ('burst
nose, and tsagaki on stage!) But I covered a happy audience singing
again! On
the other hand, the Jeff Loomis reminded us that it is one of the best
metal guitarists and the band's new guitarist Attila Voros adequately
covered the gap, giving the band the necessary volume of their sound,
whose absence had caused negative comments in March Metal Day.
The
participation of the people was amazing about it and that gave away
plenty of Nevermore t-shirt to the end and the constant stage diving
(with the help of Dane) gave a pure metal character in the show which
is usually lost in the big club. The
live finished with a stunning performance of "Enemies Of Reality" and
the Dane to promise that they will return soon in the "Obsidian
Conspiracy Tour".
There
is, of course, and the other angle: since this is the promo tour for
the album to wait no more than the song "Dreaming Neon Black" or
something of the same name on their debut world tour; will hear some
overlooked gems of the same type Seed
Awakening, Deconstruction, The Fault Of The Flesh; will play a little
bit more than the 'Tariff' of 1 ½ hours? want such non - mainstream
movements of a band that started with such attitude. Perhaps
the band is still numb (fourth appearance after the new album) when it
would draw reliable conclusions to the next, hoping to be more
satiating (in duration and setlist) Warrel Dane and healthy.
