Far away from all the mish mash, not the slightest bit stale, but fresh powerfull and with unrestrained anger they thrash their way through their set. Awesome band and wonderfull record!

Philly's Starkweather and France's Overmars have teamed up to release a split 12"LP.Overmars have released numerous recordings over the last few years (many of which have been reissued by the Crucial Blast label). Their brand of ominous, expansive musical darkness is breath taking. A bleak and barren mix of doom, metal tinged punk, and experimental hardcore. Bringing to mind the sonic damage of later era Swans and Neurosis, while harboring a contemporary heaviness unlike anything else out there today.Starkweather's legacy within aggressive music is legendary. Recorded at the same time as their highly praised "This Sheltering Night" album, their contributions here show a creative force at their most powerful. The complex "Armed Memory" shows Starkweather as tortured, jagged, and frantic as they've ever been. While their 14 minute epic closer "Nightmare Factory" is a layered metallic dirge of catastrophic proportions, dizzying and disorientating in its hypnotic ebb and flow.Together Overmars and Starkweather have created an unclassifiable, paranoid journey into the artistic abyss, proving that aggressive music still has much to offer. THIS IS FUCKING GREAT. an amazing and totally bleak and definitely their best record so far from this finnish band, combining a more muted and moody take on DISFEAR-style rocked out guitar riffs, savagely shouted vocals ala VICTIMS, and then the dark and epic scope of NEUROSIS (and their slower, low end lumbering) , TRAGEDY (mood carrying guitar riffs and solos) ARTIMUS PYLE (bursting from all of that into wicked thrash) and their ilk. The Recording is crazy serious and megalithic, allowing the weight of the riffs to be literally oppressive and powerful then just clearing enough space for the band to blast fast thrashier parts. top knotch musician ship, the mood of the whole affair somber as it can get, and while this metallic influenced crust style is seems at times almost completely currently dismissed stateside / locally, if you like any of the five bands I just mentioned, buy this immediately. AWESOME.?LP includes the CD and comes in a 350g Cover, 280g printed innersleeves, 180g Vinyl and some limited coloured LPs for Mailorder only!

These four young people have played countless shows in europe the last two years and should be well known for all those into contemporary melodic HC/Crust. Definetly one of the best bands in this genre coming from germany at the moment. I expeceted a lot from their new recordings, but what they deliver here exceeded all expectations. An almost fourty minutes thunderstorm in 11 acts, paired with a voice of dispair and accompanied by blistering melodies. For fans of Ekkaia, Madame Germen, Uranus...

The band that stands before you known as Morne started with many trials and tribulations. It began back in 2005, and even though there were many interested individuals, only one lineup had the dedication and perseverance to make the band a reality. The band features Milosz (ex-FILTH OF MANKIND) on guitar, Jeff (ex-DISRUPT, GRIEF) also on guitar, Max on bass and Kevin on drums (both from various Boston bands). Morne draws it's influence from powerful, intense bands such as AMEBIX, NEUROSIS and SACRILEGE. The undertones of these bands can certainly be heard in Morne's sound, but they create an atmosphere all their own. WARPRAYER features members of ripcord, dumstuck, gurkha... and its metalcrust as fuck...

Expect inspiration and influences that range from Neurosis, Catharsis to His hero is gone and Kyuss to Isis.?OVERMARS from Lyon, France comes along with a perfect slab of music. the vocal attack is superb. the instrumentation is perfect! it's a great, trance inducing section of music. the heavy vocals, the slow, pounding rhythm, the ambient touches, the way the bass creeps in has the old Venom tone. The guitar interplay with the electronics during the long, methodical building process is spot on. the next vocal section is utterly downtrodden - perfect for the music which has sort of a NEUROSIS/SOULS AT ZERO being dismantled feel. the music has a real elastic quality here with the slow drum count, the jangly guitars and the flopping bass string tone. nothing but high praise from me on this song!!!

Dan from Combat Wounded Veteran handles vocal duties and pens bleak, spitefull lyrics railing against attoricities and oppression and the concentraitions of power responsible for them! ?COBRA NOIR are from Montreal, Quebeck. after proving that their debut was no fluke, Cobra Noir's next effort, the split with THE HOLY MOUNTAIN, is yet another hammer to the face, this time delivered with even more venom and malice. Just brooding hardcore that rages with ferocity, it would give a Norwegian black metal goon a case of fudge-laden Fruit Of The Looms. the songs channels the ravenous aggression of almost-forgotten Canadian hardcore kings UNION OF URANUS and the BLACK HAND, both bands who clearly had metal in their hardcore before the term "metalcore" held about as much weight as "I promise." Channelling these influences through the confrontational grit and fortitude of DISCHARGE, the result is an endless barrage of bowel-rumbling chords pushed through overdriven amplification, a vocal style reminiscent of a sinner's froth-laden wailing as Satan plucks out his pubic hairs one by one and drums that border on incomprehensible while still providing the thrust necessary to make this behemoth blow the stainless steel out of your lobes.

First they released a demo, then came their first 7", and after that came their demo as a 7" - all of them very well received by me and I dare to say a large number of punks worldwide. In late 2007 they visited the studio again and returned with the twelve tracks that became this LP. Charged with emotional melodies and punk attitude they've once again created songs that are impossible to listen to without getting completely sucked in to. I've in earlier reviews said that their lyrics are poetic, but that is also true about their music and the structures of their songs. It's very poppy at times and all this rambling about emotions and poetry might scare away some real hardcore d-beaters, but to avoid any misunderstanding I want to make it perfectly clear that this is without a doubt punk. Punk in a pure and danceable form. Punk to which you can shake your ass while clenching your fist - not in anger but with dedication. The Assassinators makes me believe we can actually change the world to the better, even though they do address some dark topics in their lyrics as well. Still, this band gets me motivated to do what I think is best for myself and others and are doing so while providing one hell of a soundtrack. But The Assassinators didn't just spend time writing music, this LP also comes with a thick booklet full of artwork and all their lyrics in Danish and English, along with in depth commentaries. This band has definitely not forgotten that it's very possible to combine punk, fun, and politics and get a very successful result. "Let this be a declaration of love or a kick in the ass" - LP comes with an 32 page booklet in an LP - size and poster!!!

The songs are transformed chapters of the book "the open wounds of South America" by Galeano. Excellent record from a brilliant band. Lyrix are dealing with the history of South America in general and the situation of Venezuela today. Cover and booklet are nicely put together and all lyrix and comments are translated in english - Highly recommended!
