Metalcore
Deathcore
Screamo

some riffs are awesome, but the vocals destroy everything.

Though I enjoy a lot (Hell, I enjoy harsh noise), these I just can't get into:

Genres:
Metalcore (vocals can sound whiny and doesn't seem to have much substance)
Deathcore (Chugging galore, the attempts at very high and very low vocals seems very forced)

Bands:
Death (Yeah, I never could understand what was so good about these guys)
Obscura (and the rest of the similar bands. I'm going to keep trying for Obscura, but it still won't click)

Oh yeah, for "controversial" opinions, I think Venom's Black Metal and Blood Fire Death both suck.

What about Welcome to Hell?

s'alright. Venom in general just never really gives me a stiffy like they do to so many others. I've given them every chance possible to like them, but...I just can't.

I much prefer Hellhammer, whose entire basis for starting a band was "we wanna be more Evil than Venom". And I'll be damned if they ain't.

dude, same here. I've never understood what was so great about Death. I mean, Chuck Schuldiner was probly THE most influential man in death metal's formation, but there's absolutely Nothing musically about that band that i like. they bore me, i've tried to get into em so many times, but i just can't.

Answered your own question right there. Death has always been progressive, ahead of their time, and hugely influential. If you don't like their music, fine, I'll agree there are some stinkers in their discography, but it's pretty easy to see why they're so huge.

Regardless of them being influential, I find them just plain boring. The only song I actually thoroughly enjoy by them is Voice of the Soul, and it isn't even death metal.
