Although, i don't listen to Slipknot that much anymore, i'll say yes.
Their first two albums were good, but with Vol.3, they became a bunch of emos who sing about how much they miss their girlfriends.

Hum . I must admit , along with my friends , we always laughed at Slipknot calling them Slipcunts , Slipfucks , Slipducks and whatever else you can imagine
 
But i wanted to be fair so i did a try , and listened to both links . In the latest they are indeed softer than the first , even if they could never be considered Brutal .

never been a fan of slipknot..because find them rather boring...but hey they do get a little bit soft comparing with their older album...

imo they did, SlipKnoT was always my favorite band (I mean since I listen to metal) and I love their stuff until 2001 (i found their music that time heavy) but with Vol. 3 they rusted and went to some kind of "progressive rock" with many melodic songs (the worst of all...) while their last album can't even be stated progressive but some kind of "trend-rock" or "trend-metal" with industrial parts, breakdowns, grungy guitar effects and even more melodies while they want to "dilute" this rocky-grungy shit melodic stuff with some "heavy" and "pounding" parts, but it doesn't work, because it lacks real energy and it can be heard that it's a wannabe trial. it's total and utter shit and I wasn't able to listen to it but about 5 times, while I listened to their first albums for more than 3 years permanently. so SlipKnoT is SHIT today... but I recommend their first demo album "Mate.Feed.Kill.Repeat" to everybody, that is an incredibly awesome Progressive Metal album!

i don't give a crippled shit about what it's,getting softer or getting deep emotional but it really touches my soul....   vermillion and circle was always my favorite songs...  IMO of course...
