Event and hurry up and get your tickets!!
1. Hard Anger Metal Festival will be happening for the first time this year. Can you tell us a little bit more about it? (René) That is correct, this year we'll have the first edition of Hard
Anger Open Air and it will be one of Europe's most unique festivals. We have a wide oriented lineup so there is interesting music for all the metal fans.
2. How did you guys come up with the idea for this festival? (Hedvig) It happened around the last summer. Both Rene and I had a day off from work. Rene suddenly called me and told me that he was going to have a small trip to the Hardangervidda, just to be in the nature. He asked if I
Wanted to join. So at first we took a trip to Vøringfossen, took some pictures and looked around. On our way to Vøringfossen we passed Måbødalen. While passing Måbødalen on our way back, we were listening to some metal and talking about life in Eidfjord. Suddenly I got the craziest idea ever. I looked at Rene and asked him: "Are you thinking what I’m thinking right now?" He asked: "Metal festival in Måbødalen?" I said yes.
After this moment we started brainstorming and 10 min later we already had the name for this festival! As we are located in Hardanger county, turning a name Hardanger into Hard
Anger sounded simply genius! After creating the name we started to do some research to know if it would be realistical to have the festival on that
Area and what we should do to really make it happen.
3. How did you choose the lineup for festival? Was it hard to get the bands on board? (Hedvig) Our format is to have as many different bands as possible. There are tons of great high profile bands, as well as there is many not so well known bands who deserve more attention. Therefore we want to have something for everyone. At first it was not so easy to find bands, as we were right in the beginning of organizing the festival and
No One had
Ever heard about us. But later on, we received more and more booking requests and we still do. We already have some bookings for the next year edition!
4. Is the festival for any type of metal fan? (black, death, thrash, folk…) (Hedvig) Our goal is to have different kinds of metal. Something for everyone. As our festival venue and the whole Hardanger
Area is so remarkably beautiful, we would not want anyone to miss out our festival because of their (metal) musical taste.
5. About the venue: it seems that it will be a pretty special place… Could you describe it to us? (René) The venue is at an extremely beautiful place called Måbødalen. This
Area really begs for a festival. It is a natural kind of
Arena surrounded by steep mountainsides with a rich history. There have even been found remnants from the time of cavemen and Vikings in that area.
6. Besides the venue itself: are there more sites to visit around the festival area? (René) Norway, and especially the Hardangervidda (Hardanger High mountain plateau, where the festival owes its name to) is steeped by nature. There are waterfalls, fjords, lakes and all kinds of remote places where you can get lost literally and figuratively.
7. Where can everybody get the information on tickets, transportation to the festival, lodging, etc? (René) We are trying to update our website weekly but you can also find all the needed information on facebook. There are lots of pictures of the festival area so, check it out and like our page. But most important....come and see it yourself!!
8. If someone wants to get further information, is it possible to contact the festival's management? (René) If there is any information you need and you can't find it on our website then we are more then willing to answer your questions, although I think that most information needed is on our website.
(Hedvig ) For more questions, please find our e-mail addresses on contacts information and feel free to write to us.
9. If someone is still trying to decide if they should or not go to Hard Anger Festival: WHY should they NOT miss it??? ( René) I personally think that this festival with its cool lineup and setting brings you into a state of rapture. If you want to experience a deep "back to the roots" feeling, you have to be there!
(Hedvig) It is a brand new festival and it is located in the most unique area. I can’t find a reason why people should’t come and check us out! In fact, it is a real candy to every true metalhead who appreciates music and majestic nature.
10. Any other messages to the SOM readers? (René) We have arranged everything to make your stay pleasant: an official camp site, free bus transportation to the festival area, and so on. There will only be one first edition of Hard Anger Open Air...so be there!!
(Hedvig) People, who are planning to come to the festival, but haven’t booked their accommodations yet, I recommend to hurry! Most of our local accommodations are already fully booked. There might be some other options left. If you are not willing to stay in a hotel or cabin, there is always chance to have a place for a tent at our official camping site, Sæbø Camping, in Øvre-Eidfjord (Find more info from our website

See you all at Hard Anger Open Air!!
