I haven't seen this posted anywhere else in this section of the forum, and a search came up with no results.  So, let's hear it.

Mine is John Abercombie's Timeless.  Considered one of the best jazz guitarists ever, I heard this song when I was 8 years old; Nothing has Dethroned it.  In my opinion, it's a musical masterpiece.  If you find the intro too long and boring (some do), skip to 4 minutes in and it will start to pick up.

Let's see...

I've said this a Million times before:

The Fecal Rebellion - Mirrorthrone

A symphony of black metal. From the first few seconds, a dark atmosphere sets in. Spine-chilling piano and violin play. Soon after, the metal sets in. The classical and the metal synchronize with highly technical riffs and a choir of voices from the background. Though the drums are programmed, they are made to sound real (best drum programming I've ever heard). The piano and violins are still there too. Now the Voice of Vladimir Cochet sets in; a demonic spurt of rasping. For 15 minutes, this is unrelenting; it builds up to a apocalyptic barrage of Brutality in the end. The lyrics reflect Vladimir's nihilistic mindset, and what is produced are the greatest lyrics I have ever read. So much emotion emanates from this song.

This is all done by one man, no help Beyond that. All of the production and mixing was done by him. This is perfect.

EDIT: Might as well put this other song, which is 2nd best to me.

Rhyacian: Untimely Meditations - The Ocean

Accompanied by Siderian before this, it starts with a minimalistic riff with Nothing else. A little in the bass and drums start. Dreary vocals start up. With many influences from jazz, DnB, Sludge, ambient, Death Metal (the growls are of Death Metal quality), classical and the list goes on. Within all of this is a unobtrusive guitar solo, more powerful than any other guitar solo, yet it is not even close to being as technical. It just shows pure power. At 6:06, the aggression starts. It blasts the listener with death growls and groovy riffs, and leads again to the minimalism. Into The End, it turns into a monstrous wave of Brutality and beauty.

Post-metal: metal without being metal; technical proficiency is thrown away for atmosphere. This trade for atmosphere worked out perfectly for The Ocean, creating this monster of a song.

well it's pretty pointless to force myself and chose only 1 fav. there are so many of them... so the point is that there's no point to call out only 1 fav song, because it will only prove how little experience i have with music...  for me most fav is the song that i like to hear in individual time sequence... music isn't something that you can choose from 1000 and 1000 of bands only 1 song because it's their individuality that differs the emotions you get from the song and stating that only one song are your favorite, you actually sayng that you can feel only one emotion or you can be on the same Mood whole time... xD

No it isn't. Vladimir is from Switzerland, not Sweden.

I'll admit that I only listened to snipets of that song Merc, but I like what I heard. I will listen to the whole thing later, the only part of it that I didn't really like is how it just cuts off at the end.

Also, I realize that most will probably not be able to pick a favourite. I was sort of playing Devil's advocate and interested to see what kind of responses I would get.

Cuts off? What do you mean?

haha man, you're the funny one... that ''cut off'' is called pause and is essential to middle Baroque and black/death metal music also used in avant... so it's Nothing that you should be disliking if you're into that genre...
