This movie is a hell of a mix! Samurai, Jakuza clan, sex slave, drugs, power, control. It is a rock n roll that takes someone in the highs and lows of the various extreme pressure to which characters get themselves into. It is however risky to introduce all these themes in a movie without risking getting too gore, but the movie has managed to keep a fine balance between onscreen display of characters and the gore which this movie delivers more than perfectly.

But behind the hustle and bustle First Love talks of the meaningless of new encounters and connections that can help people pass and escape old living nightmares. In our story Monica encounters  Leo as she is trying to escape her captors, and from that moment onwards he becomes a powerful force that helps Monica find it’s way through her story of abuse. This is a story of loyalty and selflessnes as the characters battle their way through the harsh conditions in the world of underground organized crime.

Monica is through her sex work pays off her father’s debt while simultaneously accumulating her own personal debt against her pimps Juli and Yasu. The latter two are in the verge of an agreement with a member of the yakuza, Kase who counting on the support of a corrupt police officer Otomo instigates a plan to sell the drugs and on it’s way frame Monica as well.  Meanwhile Leo, a boxer with a promising career and a rising star is informed that he has brain tumor with not much time left to live.

The aim of this review however is not to spoil the interesting way in which characters interact with each other in this action movie. In itself the movie is packed with gory, humorless drama and oversized stereotypical characters vouching for control and a way out in the underground world of Jakuza.  The relationship and the romance that develops between Monica and Leo is a major theme in this movie, portraying their sentimental affection as their battle their way through the trouble their in to. He has a gentle complexity while Monica is needy and damaged due to the long history of abuse both by her father and the pims she now worked for. Their relationship isn’t quite romantic, since his bleakness and her weakness both play a detrimental role to the story as the striking visual elements and emotional expressions are showcased in this crime action movie.

All in all this is a great movie, packed with action, drama, love, abuse you name it! It’s designed to complement the genre needs of as much fans as possible. However the move is chaotic, withot a clear story line, and by the end of it one get’s the feel of a bunch of criminals of the jakuza triad fighting each other in messy gore action packed sequences that deliver messy results. If you're looking for a fun to watch movie, packed with action scenes then this is the one for you!
